Meet the Freeform Technology Team – Jack Overton, CAM Programmer

Meet the Freeform Technology team, they are more than just our technicians and engineers. They make the difference to our clients by providing outstanding results and customer service. We want to introduce our team members and let them share what it’s like to work at Freeform Technology. In this interview Jack Overton, CAM Programmer at Freeform Technology, discusses his 5 years working with us.

What is your role at Freeform and what does your day-to-day job entail?

Day-to-day I manage the metallic department, estimating parts and assemblies when they come in and organise the material and tooling required, lease with the designers/customers, program the CNC machines using Siemens NX CAD/CAM software, design and manufacture any fixtures that may be needed then project manage them though our manufacturing processes. To ensure that they are made and delivered on time and to the highest standard.

What is the most exciting/interesting part of your role at Freeform?

One the most interesting parts of my role would be collaborating closely with our other programmers to constantly innovate and try to improve our manufacturing processes and workflow efficiencies. This includes Siemens NX post development and testing out new tooling and cutting strategies.

What do you enjoy most about working at Freeform Technology?

I enjoy the ability to keep constantly innovating and learning throughout my role at Freeform. I like how the team always come together with their expertise and experiences when faced with tough challenges, tight deadlines and precise tolerances put forward by our customers.

What has been your biggest achievement at work?

One of my biggest achievements has been the completion of a very tough multi piece assembly and coming up with the whole production engineering side of the project to be able to finish machining the assembly to maximise its accuracy with as little blend lines as possible and achieving the highest tolerances required by the customer.
